Transfer your Bluebeam Revu License to another PC
Bluebeam Revu 2018, 2019, and 20 software is registered on a “per workstation” basis as a node-locked license. This means that Bluebeam Revu is tied to a particular PC. The locking takes place when the license is registered to a particular PC. This article is about perpetual seats of Bluebeam Revu, not the Open licenses which float between users. On the other hand, Bluebeam Revu licenses are also portable. This means that we can easily transfer your Bluebeam License to another PC the license or registration from one PC to another.
A realistic use case would be for when you are using Bluebeam Revu in your office today……..but need to you Bluebeam Revu on your Laptop while in the field tomorrow. You don’t necessarily need to purchase a second license just for field work. You can follow these easy steps to move the license between computers.
- Go to the Revu menu
- Click “Unregister”
This will convert your current licensed version to the viewer only mode. And as for PDF viewers, it’s a darn good one!
Then on the new machine you want to have registered:
- Go to the Revu menu
- Click “Register” and enter your Bluebeam serial number and product key
You now have Bluebeam Revu installed on 2 (or more) PCs, but it’ll only be registered once. Questions about the distinction between installed and registered? Give us a call or email.
Do you need to transfer your Revu settings from one PC to another as well?
Perhaps you’ve spent some time configuring your settings on your office workstation, and you’d like those same setting on your new PC or on a laptop while you’re out of the office. Well, that’s easy too. Although the video above shows how to do this, these step-by-step directions will show you as well.
- Start by going to the Revu Menu
- Select the Administrator Button
- Click the Revu Tab from Bluebeam Administrator
- Select “Backup Settings” and save the backup zip file
- Move that backup file to the new computer
- On the new machine, begin by going into Revu and clicking Bluebeam Software Bluebeam Administrator and then the Revu tab
- Select “Restore Settings”
- Select the backup zip file
Tip: Don’t forget to copy your custom stamps over. Stamps are not part of the Settings since they are individual PDF files. So that is another step you’ll want to take to be sure your different computers you might use are set up similarly. The default windows path for stamps is: C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Bluebeam Revu\2018\Stamps
